For my slab, I chose that huge colorful owl starring at you with it's beaming eyes and smells you with its rich blue nose. I liked him because of all the colors. I love color, they could be old, new, bright, neon, glittery, or netural. So that is why. I chose the heiroglifics that are on the picture because they describe me. The first row is my name, Emily. The second row spells smart, and the third row spells 'BFFL' standing for Best Friends For Life.
The problems I had while doing this were: Some of the plaster chipped or broke off, the paint smeared, the gold didn't look good because it wasn't thick enough, I had to keep mixing paints and putting on about 3 layers or more.
Yes, I am happy with my slab. I'm excited because it took me about a week and a half to do this and I'm super happy with it, even though I did have some difficulties, I think they paid off. I also like the colors in it and how deep my carvings are. I really like the owl, he's adorable! I think my piece could use a little more work, but I just think it makes it look older.
If you’re wondering where my painting takes place, well then you’re lucky because I am going to tell you! My painting is at my dad’s house. It is his back yard. You will see the house, tree house, bon fire pit, swing set, dog cage, little trees, big trees, bushes, and TONS of fascinating, popping, standing out colors. If you are wondering what those many colors are then they are leaves. Pinks, oranges, reds melons and golden describe the beautiful rich, colors of my leaves. Okay, so I am not going to lie, I did have a few problems, okay a lot! It seems to be I got paint on me 3 times! That is not a good thing because they were my BRAND new shirts I received from my loved one on Christmas morning. On my new hot pink shirt I had silky green paint, right in the corner, by my shoulder. And then I got splatters of red paint on my orange shirt but then the day before yesterday, I got a TON of yellow paint ALL over me. It was a light blue and white, yes white shirt!! The yellow got all over the white and I was sooo upset… I guess art is messy… But I still love it. It just made me mad. My mom could not wash it out. She tried and tried. Another problem I had was my paintings kept cracking and it drove me crazy. I put some modge podge in with the paint and it still cracked, but I think it seemed to help a little bit cause the paint didn’t chip when I put modge podge in with it. I really like how my painting turned out. It really has a pop of flavory looking colors. Like the tangerine looks like strawberries, the melon looks like, well melons and the golden looks like corn on the cob. Yum! I think my painting is a good piece of art. I am glad I got to do this art work, because it showed me how vauleable art is and you can’t always rush things.
